orkers need your urgent support
On the eve of May Day the international workers’ day we call upon all workers of the world to support us. Iranian Workers urgently need the support of workers and human rights organization globally.
Esmail Abdi, a well known teacher activist, has issued a statement from notorious Evin Prison stating that he will begin a hunger strike from April 30th, 2017, to protest the fabricated charges against workers and teachers of “gathering and colluding with intent to act against national security”. He is spending his 6 years prison sentence for defending the teachers’ rights. Jafar Azimzadeh , a well-known labor activist and the head of the Free Union of the Workers of Iran (FUWI), and one of the coordinators of the famous wage rise petition with 40 thousand-signatures has been sentenced to 17 years in jail. The government forces have summoned him again to jail. Atena Daemi a woman children activist has received 7 years jail and is in hunger strike since 7th April. She is protesting the government pressure on her family and jail sentences for her two sisters. Many other teachers and workers are in jail or received jail sentences and soon or later will be summoned to prison.
On the eve of May Day, the International Worker’s Day we are expecting all the labour and human rights organizations around the globe to strongly condemn the Islamic government of Iran for suppressing and detaining people for defending their basic human rights. We need your support and help for Ismail Abdi and Atena Dayemi’s campaign.
We demand:
-The freedom of Esmael Abdi , Behnam Ebrahim Zadeh , Atena Daemi and cancellation of the all chargers against them and against all worker’s activists, teachers, and political prisoners who have been charged for being “threat to national security”.
– There are many workers, teachers and children’s rights activists and other people in prison or sentenced to prison sentences such as Jafar Azimzadeh (Sentenced to17 years), Shapoor Ehsani Rad with 11 years sentece, Mahmood Salehi with 9 years sentence, Osman Esmaeyli with 1 years sentece, Davood Razavi 5 years, Ebrahm Maddadi 5 years and 3 months, Reza Shahabi, Ali Akbar Baghani (10 years exile to Zabol the hottest city in Iran),, Mahmood Behshti 5 years, and many more. We demand that all their charges to be dropped immediately. They must be freed immediately and have the right to organize, assembly and strike, They must have freedom of speech, right to organize International Worker’s Day, and all other political freedoms as basic human rights that should be respected.
