On 17 August, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, a well-known workers and children’s rights activist, was arrested and transferred to the Kermanshah Information Office. Since then Behnam; family have heard no news of him .
Behnam Ebrahimzadeh’s is certainly familiar to many of you working-and-humanist organizations around the world. He is a labor activist, children’s rights activist and a well-known human rights defender who spent his youth age in Evin prison and Rajai Shahr Prison from June of 2010 until 2017. More than seven years. Behnam has always followed his humanitarian ambitions with courage and has continued his struggles against poverty and for basic human rights since his release from prison. During the past year and after the earthquake in western Iran, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh has been very active in helping suffered people and encouraging people to help deprived people in Sar E Pul Zahab and Kermanshah the damaged areas.
He was arrested when he was returning from “Sar Pul Zahab” town. The Campaign to Free Jailed Workers in Iran) Free Them Now) condemns his arrest and calls for his immediate and unconditional release. Free Them Now expects all labor and humanist organizations around the world to strongly condemn the arrest of this labor activist and call for him to be immediately and unconditionally released.
In the face of massive protests by workers and people of Iran against poverty, discrimination, embezzlement, and lack of basic freedoms, the Islamic Republic is trying to punish people by hideous verdicts of the prison and the suppression and in this way tries to hold back people from their demands and struggles. Another example is Mohammad Habibi a teacher and a member of the executive board of Teachers Association of Tehran who violently arrested when he was teaching and dragged on the ground to the security car in front of his pupils. He has been sentenced to ten and half years prison and 74 lashes.
“Free Them Now” called for a worldwide condemnation of this savagery in a separate statement. Today, workers and people in Iran need more support than ever.
Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, and all jailed workers and teachers, and all political prisoners must be released immediately.
