Re: Rearrest of Ismaeil Bakhshi , Sepideh Gholian, Jafar Azimzadeh, Pravin Mohammadi
We have been informed by the “Free Them Now” campaign about the arrest of Ismaeil Bakhshi and Sepideh Gholian for the second time in connection with the sugar cane workers struggle of Haft-Tappeh in Iran. We have also been informed of the arrests of Ja’far Azimadeh and Parvin Mohammadi for their labour activism.
On behalf of the 77,000 members of B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), we strongly condemn the new wave of repression against the workers and their rights in Iran. We urge you to release the detained workers immediately. We urge you to stop torturing workers and their allies for your choice of “confession”.
We urge you to stop further actions to suppress legitimate workers rights such as the right to strike and the right to join or form their independent organization as laid by the international conventions.
We express our solidarity and support with the workers movement in Iran and demand immediate and unconditional release of jailed workers in Iran.
