Parvin Mohamadi, the prominent workers’ activist and deputy director of Independent Workers’ Union of Iran has been transferred to section 209 of Evin prison, that is known for being “the special place” for prisoners who are under interrogation.

Parvisn Mohamadi is denied visits. According to her lawyer, Mr Mohamad Ali Jedari Foroghi, for seven days the authorities didn’t provide any news about her well-being or situation. After insistence by Parvin’s sister, the prison authorities accepted some clothings and money to pass on to Pravin.

In response to demand for visiting Parvin, the lawyer has been told to get in touch next Saturday (16 February 2019).

Transfer of a prisoner to section 209 of Evin and suspending visits are clear signs of torture and pressure on Parvin Mohamadi, as other prisoners have gone through similar experience and process. It’s also aimed to put pressure on families of the persecuted.

Parvin Mohamadi and Jafar Azimzadeh were arrested on 29th January 2019. Jafar Azimzadeh has been sentenced to 6 years prison and sent to Evin, and Parvin is on one month temporary arrest for accusations of “actions against national security”.

We urge you to condemn Islamic Republic of Iran for the attack on the defenders of rights and humane values in Iran. Parvin Mohamadi, Jafar Azimzadeh, Esmaeil Bakhshi, Sepideh Gholiyan, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, Atena Daemi, and the endless list of the beloved activists in prisons of Islamic Republic have committed no crime.

Defending the most basic rights, workers’ rights, children’s rights, women’s rights, the right to get paid for work, the right to have a life worthy of living, the right not to be tortured, the right to be treated like a human being are what the activists stand for. It’s the demand for humanity and standing up for humanity and humane values that Islamic Republic of Iran labels “propaganda against the regime”, “disruption of public order”, “spreading lies”, and arrest the activists for.

The activists and their families need your undivided support.
