by admin_shahla

Flowing the national and international campaign in support of the sugar cane workers of Haft Tapeh in Khuzestan province, Iran, and to free the jailed and arrested workers, a petition that calls for “immediate and unconditional release of all the detained workers” launched and so far, in the past two weeks, over 1000 people have signed it.

Such campaign unites the freedom seeking people and we must support it.

The protest of the sugar cane workers in 2018, was a big blow to authority of Islamic regime and its aggressive and barbaric capitalist system. So the regime and its security forces are taking revenge for the political and social losses.

Esmaeil Bakhshi, the leader of the workers has been in prison for accusations such as “conspiracy and gathering to act against national security”, “act against national security by propaganda against the regime”, “insulting the supreme leader”, “spreading fable in order to disturb public opinion”, and “disturbing public order by attending illegal gatherings”. Also the prosecutes are considering other charges.

Ali Nejati, a member of Sugar Cane Syndicate of Haft Tapeh, and Sanaz Elahyari, Amirhosein Mohamadifard, Amir Amirgholi, and Asal Mohamadi, members of Gam Magazine are also being persecuted for similar security accusations – they have been charged for publication of news about the protest of the sugar cane workers.

Branch 28 of Revolutionary Court of Tehran that is under supervision of judge Moghiseh, has summoned all the activists to appear in court at 10 am on 3rd August 2019.

The fresh campaign for freedom of the those who were arrested in relation with strike and the protest of the sugar cane workers of Haft Tapeh has already received a fair attention. Amnesty International has also publicised the petition.

We must do what we can to support the campaign and to become their voice across the world.

Esmaeil Bakhshi, Sepeideh Gholyian, Jafar Azimzadeh, all the jailed teacher activists, women’s right activists, worker activists, environmental activists, writers and journalists, and all the political prisoners must be free immediately and unconditionally.
