Protest flogging of a worker in Iran for holding a May1st ceremony!

Condemn Islamic Republic of Iran and demand prosecution of its heads.

According to reports from Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, on 1 June 2020, Rasoul Taleb Moghadam, a member of the syndicate who was arrested on May1st 2019, was released on bail. In the past few days he received several threats from the authorities, he was told to either attend Branch one of Enforcement Judgement in Evin prison, and refusal to attend would result in confiscation of properties of his brother who had bailed him out in 2019.

At his arrival to Evin prison, he endured 74 lashes and despite the poor physical condition after the flogging he was transferred to the prison’s  quarantine.

Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company published a statement and condemned the criminal sentence and the arrest of Rasoul Taleb Moghadam.

“Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company strongly warns the authorities of the judiciary and the prison and holds them responsible if anything happens to  Rasoul Taleb Moghadam, as the coronavirus is spreading in prisons in Iran.” In the statement, the Syndicate also demands immediate abolish of all the national security related sentences against workers, teachers, students and other activists.

Rasoul Taleb Moghadam, along with a group of activists were arrested on May1st cermoney in front of Islamic Majles in Tehran in 2019. Rasoul was released on bail after 11 days.

Free Them Now (FTN) strongly condemns the criminal act of flogging against Rasoul Taleb Moghadam, the worker of Tehran Bus Company by the Islamic Republic, and warns the regime that there will be response.

Flogging must be banned and the Islamic Republic must be prosecuted for carrying it out on a workers for holding a May1st ceremony.

Free Them Now (FTN) expects all workers’ unions and human right organisation across the world to show their abhorrence towards the barbaric act of flogging by the Islamic republic, and write to International Labour Organisation and demand expulsion of Islamic Republic of Iran from ILO and other international organisations for its blatant violation of basic workers rights and human rights.

Holding May1st ceremony is undeniable right of workers and the people. Organisation, strike and assembly are basic workers’ rights.

The national security sentences against workers activists, teachers, and all the activists must be immediately abolished.

Rasoul Taleb Moghadam, Jafar Azimzadeh (a member of Independent Workers Union of Iran), all the jailed teachers and political prisoners must be free immediately and unconditionally.
