On 2 June 2020, Rasoul Taleb Moghadam, a member of Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company who was arrested and flogged for holding a May1st ceremony, was released. We congratulate Taleb Moghadam, his family, the workers of the company on his release.
Rasoul Taleb Moghadam was one of the detainees of May1st 2019, he was sentenced to two years prison. On 1 June 2020 he was summoned to Evin prison to start the two years sentence but at his arrival he endured 74 lashes, and despite the poor physical condition after the flogging, he was transferred to the prison’s quarantine.
The reflection of this heinous and criminal act among the workers caused such an outrage that the Islamic government was forced to release Rasoul Taleb Moghadam the day after.
Our gratitude and appreciations goes to all those who responded positively to our call and condemned flogging of a worker namely Rasul Taleb Moghadam and promoted our demand that flogging must be banned together with all other inhumane Islamic punishments
Free Them Now (FTN) strongly condemns the criminal act of flogging against Rasoul Taleb Moghadam.
Flogging must be banned and the Islamic Republic must be prosecuted for carrying it out on a worker for holding a May 1st ceremony.
