The International Committee Against Execution has declared July 18, the International Day Against Execution of Amir Hossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi. Campaign to Free Jailed Workers (Free Them Now) fully supports this day and joins the campaign to save them.
Amir Hossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi are three young people whom were arrested during the November 2019 uprisings in Iran and the Islamic Republic has sentenced them to death. Their crime is participating in demonstrations against the price rise of fuel and popular protests against poverty and insecurity in society.
On July 11th, their lawyer confirmed their death sentence. It is noteworthy that Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi went to Turkey in 20 November 2019, in fear of being arrested after Amir Hossein Moradi was taken to custody. However, on 28 December 2019, they were deported to Iran by the Turkish government and in collusion with the Islamic Republic. Thus, the two criminal governments of Iran and Turkey have stood together and prepared for such a crime.
Currently, Amir Hossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi are in danger of immediate execution.
In addition, many other detainees of the November protests are in danger of execution for crimes such as “waging war against god” and “corruption on earth”, which are punishable by death in Iran. Among them is Hossein Reyhani, a young man whom was arrested on 8 December 2019, in connection with the November protests in Islamshahr, in Tehran province, and later transferred to Evin prison. He has been tried on charges of “waging war against god”. Also, it is reported that Mohammad Reza Habibi, the Chief Justice of Isfahan, issued a verdict of “corruption on earth” for eight detainees of November protests. Their names haven’t been published yet.
By killing three young men, Amir Hossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi, the Islamic regime intends to send a message to the rest of the youth, the workers and all the dissident people of Iran. It is to say that their fate is repression and execution if they take to the streets.
This criminal decision must be met with a strong nationwide protest and international campaign. Do not let them be executed.
Campaign to Free Jailed Workers, together with the International Committee Against Execution call for everyone’s active participation in the 18 July 2020 campaign against execution sentence of Amir Hossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi.
We call on all trade unions and humanitarian organisations around the world to release statements in condemnation of the criminal decision of the Islamic Republic, and put the regime under pressure to immediately and unconditionally free the three young men. We must not allow Amir Hossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi and Saeed Tamjidi to be executed.
