To the International trade unions:
In April 2019 we wrote a letter to all of you workers unions and asked you to support our demand that Islamic regime of Iran be expelled from ILO. This was because of all anti workers’ policies and criminal records of this regime against workers and people of Iran including heinous prison sentences against labour activists and other political prisoners, torturing and flogging prisoners and so on. Fortunately a number of trade unions supported this cause and signed our petition.
Since then especially after the November mass uprising in several cities in Iran, the repressions of the Islamic government have taken on more criminal dimensions. You can see a partial reflection of this in a recent Amnesty International report entitled “Iran: trampling humanity- mass arrests, disappearances, and torture since Iran’s 2019 November protests” (September2, 2020). An obvious and shocking example of the regime’s recent crime was the firing of 2 missiles at a Ukrainian airliner on January 8th, in which 176 innocent passengers and crew were killed. The latest is the execution of Navid Afkari, a young worker wrestling champion who was imprisoned and executed on September 12 this year, for participating in popular protests. Thirty other protesters have been sentenced to death. The list of the regime’s trampling humanity cases is very long.
We call on you to support our demand that this regime must be expelled from Ilo. ILO should not be a place for such a murderous anti-workers anti-human tyranny. Please sign our petition (linked here) and we will send the petition through to ILO later on.
Thanks in advance
