Islamic regime of Iran must be expelled from ILO! March27, 2021

We demand all worker organisations to stand against the Islamic barbaric regime of Iran and defend our goal in its first step, to expel this regime of ILO. This regime, like the South African Apartheid regime should be boycotted internationally. A regime that shoots missiles at a passenger aeroplane and kills 176 passengers and crew, and executes children, homosexuals and protesters, amongst many other everyday crimes against humanity, should not be tolerated by progressive people of the world.

The regime in Iran has increased its persecution of worker activists – from more arrests to harassment of those already in jail, and their families. Heavy jail sentences for labour activists in the past three years has reached a record high, with heavy pressure on worker activists and political activists inside prisons. Harassment, torture, deprivation from medication, and life threats are all dangers and sufferings that these prisoners face day to day. Recent examples include the deportation of prisoners to other prisons far from their families, adding to their humiliation, which has provoked many concerns and protests.

Many workers, teacher activists and children’s rights activists are being sentenced to jail on the grounds of being “a threat to national security”, and attempts to organize workers in Iran, independent from government organization, is deemed a crime in Iran. Capital punishment is part of the ruling judiciary system in Iran and last year they even executed a popular wrestling champion, Mr Navid Afkari for having participated in mass protests.

Flogging is also a heinous form of Islamic punishment, and is a part of the Islamic Republic’s judicial system and was carried out by the regime against Davood Rafiei, a worker who was fired from Pars Khodro Company On November 26, 2020.

Currently many worker activists and numerous political prisoners are in jail in Iran. Some of the jailed workers include: Jafar Azimzadeh, the head of the Free Union of Workers of Iran; Shapoor Ehsani Rad a member of executive board of this union; Abolfazl Ghasali; Arash Jowhari; Sajad Shokri and Mehran Rouf, as well as four  worker activists and 7 teachers, Esmail Abdi; Zeinab Hamrang; Nahid Fathalian;  Hashem Khaster; Mehdi Farahi Shandiz; Mohammad Hosein Seperi;  Sepideh Gholyan, a young journalist activist that was arrested because of her support for the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane workers, and Atena Daemi, a children and women’s right activist and a campaigner against capital punishment …

Judicial authorities have even tried many of the political prisoners and issued heavier sentences against them while they are already serving their long prison sentences.

In addition, there are a number of labour activists, teachers, and social activists such as Parvin Mohammadi, Nasrin Javadi, Nahid Khodajo and Javanmir Moradi, who have been sentenced to prison or have a case and are being prosecuted and at risk of arrest. Jailed workers and all Political prisoners must be released immediately. book-of-dead-online.com

The Iranian regime does not represent the people and the workers; it is their killer and oppressor. Such a regime should not be accepted in the ILO, but rather its leaders and those responsible should be held accountable in people’s tribunals because of their crimes against humanity.

So far, a number of international unions and well-known social activists have supported and endorsed our call for the expulsion of the Islamic regime from the International Labour Organization and its political boycott. Please join us and support our demands.
