On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, a delegation from the International Committee against the Death Penalty consisting of Hormoz Raha and Zargham Asadi, as well as Khalil Keyvan from the Free Them Now, campaign to free jaile workers in Iran, met with Swedish Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Petra Andersson.
The meeting focused on a number of issues, including the daily executions in Iran, repression of labor activists, teachers, child rights activists and other political dissidents, the unbearable situation of political prisoners, and incitement of criminal prisoners to beat up labor activists and teachers. In this meeting, with pointing to several examples and presenting documents of the Islamic Republic’s mistreatment of workers, teachers, child rights activists, journalists and other social activists, it was emphasized that the Islamic Republic’s behavior is not comparable to any government in the world and therefore the Swedish government and the European Union must adopt a tougher policy towards the Islamic regime. The meeting, which lasted an hour, referred to the terrorist and espionage activities of the Islamic Republic outside the borders, including in Europe and Sweden. In view of all these points, the need for a political boycott of the Islamic Republic and its expulsion from the ILO the International Labor Organization was also emphasized in this conversation.
