Free Them Now (FTN) was the organiser of the program
On April 26, a special conference was held online with the participation of a number of figures and representatives of the unions. The program was called by Free Them Now and aired on New Channel TV and social media. Lectures and messages were in English, Persian and Arabic, and their translations were published simultaneously.
The hosts of this program were Meysam Atiq from the new channel TV, and Tahmineh Sadeghi, a Free Them Now member and worker activist, and started the conference by welcoming the audience and viewers. Then, Shahla Daneshfar, the spokesperson of the FTN, greeted the audience and pointed to the expansion of the workers’ struggles and the calls of various organizations for May Day, as the prospect of a glorious May Day this year. She also called for support for two campaigns that Free Them Now has launched, namely the campaign for the global boycott of the Islamic regime, and campaign against the arrests of the teachers by the regime.
The next speaker was Stephen Van Sichowski, secretary general of the VDLC, Vancouver and Suburbs Workers ‘Council, who congratulated May Day and pointed out that employers were using the Covid 19 pandemic to intensify workers’ exploitation, and emphasized on solidarity among the workers around the world and condemned arresting the teachers and workers in Iran by the regime.
Another speaker at the conference was Mohammad Khaksari, a teacher from Iran, who stressed the need and importance of the struggle to free the imprisoned teachers and workers, saying that working for the release of teachers and workers was more important than fighting for a living in the current situation. Because it will assure the the activists to continue and expand the struggle.
Farangis Mazloum, the mother of former political prisoner Soheil Arabi, who has herself a prison sentence and has to introduce herself to the prison, was another speaker at the event, congratulating the International Workers’ Day and pointing out to the horrible situation in prisons and the struggle for the release of political prisoners.
Then, Kazem Nikkhah, head of international relations of Free Them Now, referred to the workers’ struggles in the world and in Iran against the capitalists and their governments, and pointed to the widespread confrontation of workers and people with the Islamic regime of Iran, and said the workers have come to the conclusion that without liberating the whole society, the working class will not be liberated, and all the people should work hand in hand in this direction.
Saeed Nema, Secretary General of the Iraqi Federation of Trade Unions and one of the signatories of the Islamic Republic’s Global Boycott Campaign, was another speakers at the conference. He described the situation of the Iraqi workers and emphasized on the international solidarity of the all the workers.
Lorna Wou of the British Columbia Teachers’ Union was also a speaker, thanking Free Them Now for inviting her to the conference, pointing to the situation of teachers in Canada and the escalation of pressure on them during the Pandemic and protesting the arrest of teachers in Iran.
Farhad Mirzaei, another teacher from Kermanshah city in Iran, expressed his happiness for attending the conference and pointed to the attack on a teacher by security plain clothes and the teachers’ protest and their protest rally in Yasuj region in IRan. He said the teachers will not give in to pressures and repressions.
The next speaker was Alexandra Hannock, an advocate for migrant workers in Canada.She referred to the situation of migrant workers and their severe exploitation by employers in Canada, saying that the situation of these migrant workers is very bad, but the situation of Afghan migrant workers in Iran is worse. And stressed on the solidarity of the workers and teachers.
Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, an activist defending the rights of children and workers and a former political prisoner, condemned the Islamic regime and stressed on its global boycott and expulsion from the ILO, citing the large number of poor children and working children in Iran and explaining the harsh situation of workers in Iran..
Severla messages were also presented to the conference by a number of international figures and union officials. Peter Thatchell, a human rights activist and director of the Peter Thatchell Foundation, who was unable to attend the conference due to illness, sent a message protesting the Islamic government’s human rights abuses and calling for its global boycott.
In her message, Stephanie Smith, Secretary General of the BCGEU, British Columbia Public Service union, thanked Free Them Now for inviting her to the conference, emphasizing international workers’ solidarity and calling for the expulsion of the Islamic Republic from ILO, given its inhumane and anti-labor records.
Several video clips of last year’s struggles and protets of workers and people were played, and glorious scenes of these struggles were shown.

کمپین برای آزادی کارگران زندانی فراخوان دهنده این این برنامه بود
روز ۲۶ آوریل (۶ اردیبهشت) برنامه ویژه ای بصورت آن لاین با شرکت شماری از چهره ها و نمایندگان اتحادیه هاُ، برگزار شد. این برنامه توسط کمپین برای آزادی کارگران زندانی (Free Them Now) فراخوان داده شده بود و از تلویزیون کانال جدید و مدیای اجتماعی پخش شد. سخنرانی ها و پیامها به زبانهای انگلیسی و فارسی و عربی بود و همزمان ترجمه آنها منتشر میگردید.
گردانندگان این برنامه میثم عتیق از کانال جدید و تهمینه صادقی عضو کمپین برای آزادی کارگران زندانی بودند و با خوش آمد گویی به حاضرین و بینندگان برنامه را آغاز کردند. سپس شهلا دانشفر سخنگوی کمپین به حاضرین خوش آمد گفت و با اشاره به گسترش مبارزات کارگری و فراخوانهای تشکلهای مختلف برای اول مه بر یک اول مه با شکوه تاکید کرد. او همچنین به حمایت از دو کارزار کمپین برای آزادی کارگران زندانی در مورد بایکوت جهانی جمهوری اسلامی و مقابله با دستگیری معلمان فراخوان داد.
سخنران بعدی استفان وان سیچوفسکی دبیر کل شورای کارگری ونکوور و حومه بود که با شادباش اول مه به مساله کرونا اشاره کرد و گفت کارفرمایان از کرونا برای شدت دادن به استثمار کارگران استفاده میکنند و بر همبستگی میان کارگران جهان تاکید کرد و دسگیری معلمان و کارگران در ایران توسط جمهوری اسلامی را محکوم نمود.
دیگر سخنران کنفرانس محمد خاکساری یکی از معلمان از ایران بود که بر آزادی معلمان و کارگران زندانی تاکید کرد و گفت تلاش برای آزادی معلمان و کارگران از نفس مبارزه برای معیشت در شرایط کنونی مهمتر است. زیرا باعث پشت گرمی فعالین برای ادامه و گسترش مبارزات خواهد شد.
فرنگیس مظلوم مادر زندانی سیاسی سابق سهیل عربی که خود حکم زندان دارد سخنران دیگر این مراسم بود و با شادباش روز جهانی کارگر به وضعیت زندانها و مبارزه برای آزادی زندانیان سیاسی تاکید کرد.
سپس کاظم نیکخواه مسئول روابط بین المللی کمپین برای آزادی کارگران زندانی، بر جدال و مبارزه کارگران در دنیا و در ایران علیه سرمایه داران و حکومتهایشان اشاره کرد و با اشاره به تقابل گسترده کارگران و مردم با حکومت اسلامی تاکید کرد که در ایران کارگران میدانند که بدون آزاد کردن کل جامعه طبقه کارگر آزاد نمیشود و دست در دست همه مردم در این جهت تلاش میکنند.
سعید نعما دبیر کل فدراسیون اتحادیه های کارگری عراق و یکی از امضا کنندگان کمپین بایکوت جهانی جمهوری اسلامی نیز یکی از سخنرانان این کنفرانس بود و در پیامی به زبان عربی بر همبستگی میان کارگران کشورهای دنیا تاکید کرد و به وضعیت کارگران در عراق و مبارزه برای زندگی بهتر اشاره نمود.
لورنا وو از اتحادیه معلمان بریتیش کلمبیا نیز یکی از سخنرانان بود و با تشکر از فری دم ناو بخاطر دعوتش به کنفرانس، به وضعیت معلمان در کانادا و تشدید فشارها در دوره کرونا بر آنها اشاره کرد و به دستگیری معلمان در ایران اعتراض نمود.
فرهاد میرزایی یکی دیگر از معلمان از کرمانشاه با ابراز خوشحالی از حضور در این کنفرانس و اشاره به حمله لباس شخصی ها به یک معلم و اعتراض معلمان و تجمع اعتراضی آنها در یاسوج گفت که در روز اول مه ما تجمع وسیع خود را خواهیم داشت و در برابر فشارها و سرکوبگریها کوتاه نخواهیم آمد.
سخنران بعدی خانم الکساندرا هنوک مدافع کارگران مهاجر در کانادا بود. او به وضعیت کارگران مهاجر و استثمار شدید آنها توسط کارفرمایان اشاره کرد و گفت که وضعیت این کارگران بسیار ناجور است اما کارگران مهاجر افغان در ایران وضعیت بدتری دارند. و بر همبستگی کارگران تاکید کرد.
بهنام ابراهیم زاده فعال دفاع از حقوق کودکان و کارگران و زندانی سیاسی سابق با اشاره به شمار زیاد کودکان فقیر و کودکان کار و با توضیح وضعیت کارگران در ایران توسط جمهوری اسلامی ، جمهوری اسلامی را محکوم نمود و بایکوت جهانی این رژیم و اخراج آن از سازمان جهانی کار را مورد تاکید قرار داد.
پیامهایی نیز از سوی شماری از چهره های بین المللی و دست اندرکاران اتحادیه ای به کنفرانس ارائه شده بود. پیتر تاچل مدافع حقوق بشر و مدیر نهاد پیتر تاچل که به دلیل بیماری نتوانست در کنفرانس شرکت کند، در پیامی به پایمال کردن حقوق انسانی توسط حکومت اسلامی اعتراض کرده و خواهان بایکوت این حکومت شد.
استفانی اسمیت دبیر کل اتحادیه سرویس و خدمات عمومی بریتیش کلمبیا نیز در پیام خود با تشکر از فری دم ناو بخاطر دعوتش به کنفرانس، بر همبستگی بین المللی کارگران تاکید کرده و با توجه به کارنامه ضد انسانی و ضد کارگری جمهوری اسلامی خواهان اخراج جمهوری اسلامی از سازمان جهانی کار شد.
همچنین پیمان شجیراتی فعال کارگری و از کارگران سابق فولاد اهواز در پیام خود بر اتحاد کارگران در برابر سرکوبها تاکید کرد. ریتا مالیا دبیر کل اتحادیه ساختمانی شعبه نیو ساوت ولز استرالیا و پل کیتینگ دبیر کل اتحادیه کشتیرانی استرالیا نیز پیامهایی به کنفرانس دادند و حمایت خود را از کارگران ایران اعلام کرده و سرکوبگریهای حکومت اسلامی را در قبال معلمان و کارگران محکوم کردند.
در خلال سخنرانی ها و پیامها کلیپهای ویدئویی متعددی از مبارزات و اعتراضات سال گذشته کارگران ومردم پخش شد و صحنه های با شکوهی از این مبارزات به نمایش در آمد.
