Ismail Abdi is a teacher and former member of executive board of coordinating council of Iranian cultural unions. He has gone on hunger strike from inside the Karaj prison to protest the government’s crackdown of the teachers’ movement. Following this protest movement, the Islamic regime has intensified its pressure on Mr Abdi. According to his family’s reports, after blocking the telephone card of Ismail Abdi on May 5, the prison guards removed him from Ward 6 of Karaj Central Prison and his belongings was transferred to the prison warehouse and sealed. Following this, Abdi’s family were told that he has been transferred to the Alborz police station. With this news, Ismail Abdi’s family and friends went to the Alborz police station. There they were told that he had been transferred to Evin prison. when the family returned to Evin prison, they found no information about him there either. Finally after these passes between prisons and their follow-ups, it became clear that Ismail Abdi is currently in the ward 2 of Kachuei prison and his phone contact is still cut off. Massoud Nikkhah and Farahi Shandiz two arrested teachers and a number of other political prisoners have gone on strike in support of Ismail Abdi.
Ismail Abdi is one of the leading figures in the protest against the securitising of the protests and has now protested against the government’s repression. The harassment of Ismail Abdi by the Islamic regime should be widely condemned. Ismail Abdi must be released immediately and unconditionally. In a news release on the situation of Ismail Abdi, the Coordinating Council of Teachers’ Unions said that the prison authorities and the judiciary were directly responsible for any life risk for Mr Abdi, this popular figure of teachers. It is worth mentioning that in addition to the worrying situation of Ismail Abdi, the situation of other arrested teachers namely Rasoul Bodaqi, Jafar Ebrahimi, Ali Akbar Baghani and Mohammad Habibi, who were arrested the day before May 1st , is also unknown. Also, the other jailed teachers on May 1st including Mohsen Omarni, Mahmoud Malaki, Reza Amanifar, Asghar Hajib, are still in prison in Bushehr, and Hadi Sadeghzadeh is still in prison.

Imprisoned teachers and all detainees on International Labor Day must be released immediately and unconditionally.

جان اسماعیل عبدی در خطراست
اسماعیل عبدی از درون زندان در اعتراض به سرکوبگری های حکومت دست به اعتصاب زده و به اعتراض برخاسته است. بدنبال این حرکت اعتراضی جمهوری اسلامی فشار خود را بر روی معلمان شدت داده است. بنا به گزارش های منتشر شده بعد از مسدود کردن کارت تلفن زندان اسماعیل عبدی در تاریخ ۱۴ اردیبهشت، نگهبانان زندان در ساعت ۴ بعد از ظهر روز ۱۵ اردیبهشت ماه از بند ۶ زندان مرکزی کرج با عنوان ترخیص او را از زندان خارج کرده اند و وسایلش را به انبار زندان منتقل کرده و پلمپ کردند. بعد از این خبر با پیگیری های خانواده و دوستان عبدی از زندان مرکزی کرج، خبر رسید که اسماعیل عبدی به قرارگاه نیروی انتظامی البرز منتقل شده است. با این خبر خانواده و دوستان اسماعیل عبدی به قرارگاه نیروی انتظامی البرز، مراجعه کردند . در آنجا گفته شد که او به اوین منتقل شده. است. بعد از آن خانواده اسماعیل عبدی طی تماس تلفنی با افسر نگهبان (مامور بدرقه زندانی) و پرس و جو از وضعیت اسماعیل عبدی، از سوی افسر نگهبان عنوان شد که زندان تهران از پذیرش عبدی خودداری کرده و او دوباره به “ندامتگاه مرکزی” باز گردانده شده است. با مراجعه دوباره خانواده به زندان هیچ گونه اطلاعی از بازگشت آقای عبدی به زندان نیافتند. تا اینکه سرانجام بعد از این سردواندن ها و با پیگیری ها مشخص شد که اسماعیل عبدی به زندان کچویی کرج منتقل شده است.
شورای هماهنگی تشکلهای صنفی معلمان طی بیانیه ای خبری از وضع اسماعیل عبدی، مسئولیت مستقیم هرگونه اتفاق ناگوار برای عبدی این چهره محبوب معلمان را بر عهده مقامات زندان و دستگاه قضایی دانسته است.
اسماعیل عبدی یکی از چهره های شاخص اعتراض علیه امنیتی کردن مبارزات است و اکنون با اعتراض علیه سرکوبگری های حکومت اعلام اعتراض کرده است. اذیت و آزار اسماعیل عبدی از جانب حکومت کثیف اسلامی را باید وسیعا محکوم کرد. اسماعیل عبدی باید فورا و بدون قید و شرط آزاد شود.
