The mass uprising or revolution in Iran is moving fast forward. Especially these days on the 16th, 17th and 18th of November, nationwide mass demonstrations and protests on the streets in more than a hundred cities along with general strikes, have taken the revolution into a new phase, changing the situation more in favour of the people. The government tried to push back the people by shooting straight to the crowd killing several protesters. In response people called for the continuation of nationwide gatherings and ceremonies and protests for the coming days. Nationwide protests and general strikes have been called for today and the coming days.
Every day, in more and more cities people come to the streets, and the killings of the protesters by the security forces in different cities have led to larger and more extent protest gatherings and uprisings, gatherings in which thousands of people gather and chant anti-government slogans with anger and hatred.
In these days in some cities demonstrators barricaded the streets and harassed the repression forces and repelled their attacks and forced them run away. They pull down all government symbols and pictures of government and tear apart the flag of the Islamic regime or burn it. They attack and set fire to the centres and bases of Basij (state militia) and other repression forces, attack government religious schools and bases and all government centres.
Universities are the active centres of protest and students are a passionate force of revolution. This is a revolution in which all people of different ages participate. Various departments such as doctors and medical staff, lawyers and farmers and businesses have participated in it.
These days different workers’ protests have been taking place along with street protests, and today we are on the threshold of a large-scale entry of workers with their nationwide strikes. For example on the 16th November, several thousand workers in Isfahan iron smelter showed their strength with their huge march in the workers’ complex yard. On November 19, several thousand workers of Cruise Shift 1 and 2 of Site 3, who produce parts for Iran Khodro car manufacturing company, went on strike and rallied and chanted anti-government slogans.
These days’ people in Iran can’t stay still. Demonstrations and protests start in the morning and continue untill late on the night. Slogans of “death to the dictator” and “woman life freedom” are chanted from rooftops and houses. The regime has killed several hundreds of protesters during this period and only the death of a child is reported. The number of those arrested is high and more than 15 thousand.
Workers strikes have recently started on a wider scale, and teachers have also called for a nationwide strike for coming days. These are hopeful developments in the process of the current revolution.
The Iranian revolution against the Islamic regime needs the most international support and solidarity. One of the workers nightmares is the economic problem. Workers already live an under poverty life. To go on strike and have no money makes the situation worse and unbearable. Especially the longer strikes are very difficult in this regard. Free Them Now (FTN) has initiated a solidarity fund for the workers and teachers and the families of imprisoned workers, and you can donate into it through its website.
