Official oil workers in Iran have been protesting for three days in protest of their poor living conditions. They are refusing to send the production report, which is very vital for the production. These workers have demands that they have raised many times, but have not been answered.
According to the reports published on the Organizing Protests of Oil Contractual Workers’ channel, the official employees of the gas platforms have refused to send the gas and condensate production report to the management of the South Pars Oil and Gas Company since Wednesday, January 5, and emphasized that until they get an answer, they will continue their protest.
According to the report out of 37 gas production platforms in South Pars region, only 3 did not participate in this protest, and the remaining 34 gas platforms’ workers stopped sending production reports to the management, in the past 2 days.
It should be mentioned that each of the gas platforms produces about 26 million cubic meters of gas and gas condensate daily, which according to the work regulations, the amount of production from each platform must be reported to the managers on a daily basis so that the ministry can use it for urban use in the provincesو , plan factories and feed industries. Failure to send these reports will cause the Ministry of Oil to face serious problems. In October this year, the official workers of the gas platforms had refused to submit production reports in protest against the salary cap, the non-implementation of Article 10 (which could increase their salaries) and the deduction of exorbitant taxes, and this caused serious disruptions in the oil and gas distribution system.
The organizing council of oil contract workers’ protests has announced its support for this action of its colleagues and has called for nationwide strikes of workers in all oil sectors.
Protests in oil are widespread. January 6, the contract workers of Chovar Petrochemical (Alfin Ilam) protested against the low level of salaries and temporary work contracts in the petrochemical site and then gathered in the governorate and labor office of Chovar region. According to the news, the main demand of these workers, who only receive the basic salary without any benefits, is a direct contract with the complex. Also, in the same period, we have witnessed the protests of the so-called “third elements” and official oil workers. The spread of protests in different parts of the oil centers has created the ground for nationwide strikes, which are discussed among the workers.
