The ultimatum of the official oil workers, gathering of pharmaceutical workers and nurses in Mashhad

Official oil workers have given an ultimatum to the minister of Oil in a statement that if their demands are not answered by the 9th of April (20th of Farvardin month) , and above all if their demand for the implementation of Article 10 is not fulfilled, they will start a wider protest by impeaching the Minister of Oil. This ultimatum was announced by the Coordination and Solidarity Council of Official Oil Employees in a statement on April 4th.

In this statement, the angry workers gave an ultimatum to Oil Minister, Javad Owji and wrote: “We warn you that if the implementation of the article 10 is not completed by April 9th, we, the official employees of the oil industry, will try and take action until the last breath to remove the mantle of the ministry from you”.

Article 10 is a decree regarding the special employment conditions and salaries and benefits of the employees of the operational departments of the oil industry, who are tens of thousands. This resolution was approved in 2012 under the pressure of the workers, and based on it, improvements were to be made in the legal and working conditions of these workers. The protest of the official oil workers is against the non-implementation of this decree and the stoning of government institutions. In this regard, official oil workers had many protests last year and a part of the protesting workers were in the heart of the revolution. Their protests had an impact on protest movements in other oil sectors as well.

– On the morning of Wednesday, April 5, about a hundred workers of Darugar, Tehran pharmaceuticals, protested against the dismissal of fourteen of their colleagues, delayed payment of three months’ salaries and six months’ insurance premiums, and lack of job security. They gathered in front of the Ministry of Labor building. According to the news, the managers of the factory have fired 14 workers of this factory, some of whom have 15 to 20 years of job history.

The workers of this factory do not have any job security because they have temporary one-month contracts. According to the workers, for more than a year, due to the lack of raw materials, the production at the Darogar factory in Tehran has been limited and the workers are in danger of being fired.

On Wednesday, April 5, nurses and assistant nurses of Reza Hospital in Mashhad gathered in protest against the unfair payment of the nursing service tariff and the low level of salaries and heavy work pressures. In this regard, the previous day, nurses gathered in Rouhani Hospital in Babol and in Arak in front of the University of Medical Sciences. In Arak city, the nurses chanted: “Where is our tariff / Whose pocket is it in?”, “We fought with Covid but did not receive support”.
