Today, November 19, social security and steel retirees gathered, protested and marched like every Sunday. These retirees are protesting their poverty and the low level of their income and they are pursuing their demands. Gatherings of social security retirees were held in the cities of Kermanshah, Shush, Arak, and Ahvaz, and gatherings of steel retirees were held in Isfahan and Tehran.
In Shush, protesting pensioners from the cities of Shush, Karkheh and Haft Tappeh together and formed a passionate atmosphere of protest like every week. The retirees of Isfahan steel and mining industries chanted: “Hate this inflation and false promises”.
In Ahvaz, retirees held a rally and marched and chanted: “Our enemy is right here, they are lying that, it is America” and “Inflation is the people’s lives killer”
In their protest gatherings today, pensioners chanted slogans such as “the cost of inflation is the people’s lives”, “pensioners, shout for your rights!”, “we want livelihood and treatment Now!”, and “they robbed the social security fund and made us miserable”. The pensioners expressed their protest and anger against poverty, and authorities’ theft and embezzlement. The retirees also challenged government departments with their protest slogans and emphasized on the unity of working and retired workers and different sections of retirees.
National and social security retirees have called for a large nationwide rally in front of the Ministry of Labor in Tehran on November 21. Retired people are the voice of protest of the whole society with their protests and with the cry of working and retired workers’ unity, and we should widely support their protests.
Four organizations and labor groups of the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers Union, the Retirees’ Union Group, the Coordinating Committee to Help Establish Labor Organizations and Retired Workers of Khuzestan, supported the protests of oil workers and various labor sectors and retirees in a message and demanded that that the monthly salaries should be increased several times.
