Different sections of the Isfahan steel company are in strike

by admin_shahla

Today, December 3rd, the workers of Isfahan’s large steel complex started the second day of their strike. This strike started yesterday 8am with a previous notice, and the workers of different sections of steel company, which amount to thousands of workers, are participating in it. The workers are protesting against the security environment of the factory, the low wages and their precarious living conditions, and the management’s lack of response to their demands. They have announced that they will continue to strike until their demands are met.

The call for this strike was given in advance and despite the obstruction of factory security and company management, a large number of workers from all three shifts of the factory participated in it. The specific demands of the workers are the equalization of wages with other steel companies and the immediate increase of wages and other wage items, as well as the correct and non-discriminatory implementation of the job classification scheme, which slightly can improve the level of their income.

These workers have many times raised their demands and protested about it. Last month, on November 26, the workers refused to take food from the factory canteen as a warning,  and gave their warning to the management. But since no convincing answer was given, the workers started their strike as they had announced.

Currently, in Iran various sections of workers, including Formal and contractual oil workers, as well as retirees and nurses across the country, are protesting and gathering because of too low and unbearable livelihood conditions.
