Today, December 7, the oil third pilar workers of the Abadan oil refinery protested their employment status and discrimination, and against the non-payment of outstanding claims and non-response to their demands. Changing the employment situation and eliminating contracting companies, and in this regard, eliminating discrimination in payments and increasing the level of salaries is the main and key demand of these workers.
Other immediate demands of these workers are: modification of the job classification plan from the beginning of this year, payment of arrears of wages and fixing the problems in the insurance system, issuance of oil-card and bank-card, as well as receiving facilities with the same conditions as other employment sections. Abadan refinery is a hot spot of protests against the presence of predatory contractors in oil centres.
Also the operational oil workers of the Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company held a protest rally in front of the company’s management building On December 6, as in the past days and weeks. The immediate demands of these workers are: removal of the salary cap, modification of the salary floor, removal of the limitation of retirement payments, full implementation of Article 10 and payment of back pay of Article 10, and no theft from the pension fund. Aghajari is one of the largest oil centers in Iran, and also one of the hot spots of oil protests.
The recently employed official workers had a rally too on December 5th, regarding their unanswered demands. Another protest in oil was carried out by a group of third-pillar workers working in the No. 1 restaurant club in Isfahan region due to the non-renewal of their work contract.
Retired oil workers too, gathered in Ahvaz on December 5 to protest against government officials’ theft from the pension fund and to pursue their demands.
