Different sections of retirees, including public sector, military sector , social security and steel retirees, have called for a large nationwide gathering in front of the Planning and Budget Organization for the morning of December 25 in protest against the poor living conditions and to pursue their demands. Also in 24th December steel retirees will gather and protest at 9:00 a.m.
These calls indicate an explosive atmosphere among the millions of retirees and their alliance for struggle. Retired people with slogans such as “Unity! Unity! against poverty and corruption” and “Working and Retirees Unite!” called the entire society to fight against poverty and insecurity and hold the flag of working class unity.
Implementing equalization and increasing salaries above the poverty line, which is about 750 dollars per month in Iran, free medical treatment, ending embezzlement and looting and returning stolen money to pension funds, and an end to securitization of struggles, and freedom of imprisoned teachers and workers and all political prisoners are common and nationwide demands of retirees who have repeatedly shouted them in their gatherings.
Retirees are the voice of protest of all people.
It should be noted that today, Tuesday, December 19, public sector retirees, including teachers and other sectors of retired employees, gathered in front of the pension funds to protest against poverty and insecurity and to pursue their demands.
