Today, May 6, telecom retirees gathered in the cities of Tehran, Rasht, Kermanshah, Shiraz, Tabriz, Sanandaj, Zanjan, Bijar, Urmia, Hamadan, Bandar Abbas, Marivan, Isfahan and Ardabil to pursue their demands.
Equalizing the salaries and increasing it above the poverty line of 30 million Toman (around &700/month), free health care, free education and the right to housing, ending embezzlement and thefts, ending repression and executions, and ending gender discrimination and violence against women under the title of Hijab are the topics of the pensioners’ protests. These demands were reflected in their protest slogans.
In relation to the same issues, social security and steel retirees gathered yesterday May 5.
Today, also truck owners and truck drivers of Shiraz went on strike to protest the lack of fuel, fares and increase in municipal transport fines and their poor living conditions.
