On September 10th, retired and working teachers gathered in Kermanshah together with social security retirees, to pursue their demands and protest against the government’s repressions.
In this rally, one of the retired women gave a speech in protest against the arrest of a retired social security activist named Javad Azizi, who was arrested following their protest rally on Sunday, September 8th. She said that “if the demands to eradicate poverty and corruption is a crime, come and arrest us all. Mr. Azizi has been with us and we will be with him and beside him. We all have the same demands and we will not leave Azizi alone and we are with his family”.
The retired woman’s words were accompanied by applause from the crowd and shouts of “we will not get silent, until we get our rights”. Further, this speaker condemned the arrest of Javad Azizi and emphasized his immediate and unconditional release. The united crowd chanted: “Javad Azizi must be freed.”
Javad Azizi was arrested on September 8th, after participating in a rally and when he went to his home. The security forces also took away his phone and other devices. The retirees once again condemned the securitising of the protests and struggle and condemned these arrests with the slogan “Protest gathering is our inalienable right”.
