318 workers, women and social activists and political prisoners, through a protest petition, demanded the release of “Nasrin Javadi Khezari”, a retired labor activist imprisoned in Evin prison.
Nasrin Javadi, a retired worker and trade union activist, was sentenced to five years in prison for participating in the gathering of working and retired workers in front of the Islamic parliament, and since June 2022, she is jailed in Evin prison. She is a 68-year-old retiree and suffers from diseases such as severe osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, and internal organ failure. Nasrin’s only son is suffering from a critical illness and he is in coma and his admission to the hospital cause severe pressure and torture to Narin. Despite this terrible situation, the Islamic judicial authorities do not let her out to visit her son.
According to the reports, Nasrin’s 40-year-old son, who has also lost his father, is in a bad mental condition after his mother’s imprisonment and is in critical need of care due to his first-degree diabetes. Now, despite the fact that Nasrin Javadi has served half of her 5-year jail sentence and her son is in a serious physical condition in the hospital, the judicial and security authorities have refused to give her even temporary.
Nasrin’s only “crime” as a retired worker is the rightful activity in defending the rights of retirees and participating in their protest rally for their livelihood demands in front of the parliament.
In a part of the petition for the immediate release of Nasrin Javadi, it is stated “We, the signatories of this statement, stressing the immediate release of “Nasrin Javadi” and ending the excruciating worry and pain of a mother, hereby request all the free people of Iran, human rights activists and organizations, and Amnesty International for the immediate release of Nasrin Javadi, and take any necessary steps and united action and demand the release of all union and political activists. Obviously, we declare that the consequences of any incident for political prisoners and their families are directed at the government of the Islamic Republic and its judicial system.”
