Mass Protests of the oil industry retirees continues in Iran

According to the news published today, November 20, the pensioners of Ahvaz oil industry gathered in protest against the removal of welfare and medical facilities, against salaries below the poverty line, as well as tampering with their pension fund assets, and chanted slogans against the ruling embezzlers. In this regard, also on November 17, these retirees held a large rally in Tehran in front of the “National Iranian Oil Company”, in which several thousand people participated. Retirees emphasized the nationwide union of all workers and retirees with the slogan “workers, retirees, unity unity!”

Protests by pensioners in Iran are massively going on every day. Very small salaries, lack of free healthcare, embezzlement from pension funds are the main reasons for pensioners’ protests. They also demand the release of all jailed workers, teachers and political prisoners and insist on free medical healthcare and free education  for children.

In recent weeks, nurses have also had massive protests, and different sections of oil workers are on strike and protest.
