Today, Sunday, November 24, a large crowd of third-pillars workers at Gachsaran Oil and Gas Exploitation Company gathered at the company’s premises to protest against the their livelihood conditions and work problems and the lack of response to their demands. Then they marched and chanted their protest slogans. Third-pillar workers are a protesting section of oil workers who have come forward with the basic demand of eliminating contractors and the right to organize and assemble. The immediate and unconditional return to work of all dismissed workers and an end to repressive and security measures against protesting workers, the right to organize, assemble and protest, the complete elimination of intermediary and contracting companies, the implementation of previous agreements, especially the issue of paid leave and payment of camp fees (the cost of cutting off welfare facilities), which have been unilaterally changed by some officials of the gas complex, the correct implementation of the job classification plan and a fair and equal payment system for official and contract workers in accordance with previous agreements with the Ministry of Oil.
On November 21, workers at the Parsian Sepehr refinery in Assaluyeh gathered to protest the low level of salaries and poor welfare facilities, as well as slave-like labor contracts.
