Today, December 10, in another “Protest Tuesday,” a crowd of 5,000 third pillars workers from all refineries of the South Pars Gas Complex, along with their families, gathered in front of the administrative headquarters of the complex. Through a march and chanting slogans like “Fair wages are our undeniable right,” they created a powerful scene of protest. The workers chanted, “This is our last ultimatum! Without us you are finished!”
During this demonstration, the workers expressed their anger for not getting their demands met. and “One word, one demand: Just equal pay, that’s it!”
. Families of the workers also participated in the gathering and the rally. According to reports, Security forces of the Pars Special Economic Zone initially tried to prevent families from participating the rally. However, faced with the massive turnout of workers, they forced to retreat, and the protest proceeded with strength.
The presence of families in these protests serves as a significant pillar for expanding and empowering these movements while also garnering social support.
On this day, third-pillars and contractor workers from Fajr Jam Gas Refinery also joined the “Protest Tuesdays” for the second consecutive week, uniting their voices with their colleagues in the South Pars Gas Complex refineries to pursue their demands. As a result, all refineries of the South Pars Gas Complex and the Fajr Jam Gas Refinery were on strike.
The key demands announced by the third-party workers in the oil sector include:
- Removing contracting companies,
- Implementing job classification plans and increasing wages,
- Recognizing the right to unionize, assemble, and protest,
- Implementing shift work systems,
- Equalizing salaries and benefits,
- Providing access to welfare and holiday benefits,
