Today, December 31th, marked the fifth consecutive week of the “Protest Tuesdays” organized by third-pillars and contractor support workers of Fajr Jam Gas Refinery to demand their declared rights. Also on this day, workers employed in the Gachsaran Oil and Gas Company held a protest gathering.

In these protests, workers carried banners and followed up on their demands. The demands of third-pillars workers are nationwide and include:

  1. Complete removal of contracting companies,
  2. The right to unionize, assemble, and protest,
  3. An end to intimidation and suppression,
  4. The immediate reinstatement of Yaser Ahmadinejad, a protesting worker from National Drilling Company,
  5. Proper implementation of job classification plans and an equal and fair wage system aligned with formal employees,
  6. Regulation and improvement of drivers’ working conditions,
  7. Addressing the commuting and rotational work schedules of administrative and support workers,
  8. Fulfillment of previous agreements on paid leave and camp allowances.

Through their “Protest Tuesdays,” third-pillars workers have become a hotbed of protests within the oil sector. Their demands represent the grievances of all oil workers and a significant portion of workers across society. Free Them Now  emphasizes the need for various oil sector segments to join these “Protest Tuesdays” and prepare for nationwide strikes to assert their rights.
