She must be released immediately
The death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor activist whose execution ruling was overturned by the Supreme Court of the Islamic regime on October 2024 and sent back for retrial, has now been reinstated by the lower court. Once again, Sharifeh’s life is in grave danger. We must take immediate action to prevent yet another crime against labor activists.
Sharifeh Mohammadi is a labor rights activist who has been sentenced to death solely for her past membership in the Coordinating Committee to Help Form Labor Organizations. Her only “crime” is defending workers’ rights. The death sentence against Sharifeh is a blatant act of aggression and defiance against workers and the people by the brutal Islamic regime.
Through a widespread and international campaign, we can ensure that this unjust ruling is overturned immediately and that Sharifeh Mohammadi, along with other individuals at risk of execution—including Pakhshan Azizi, Varisheh Moradi, Abbas Deris, and Mojahed Koorkoor—are released unconditionally.
The inhumane punishment of execution must be abolished and eradicated from society, regardless of the charge or accusation. All execution sentences must be revoked, and executions must be stopped immediately. Imprisoned workers and political detainees must be released unconditionally. Freedom of assembly, protest, organization, and political affiliation are fundamental rights of workers and all citizens.
We call on all labor unions and human rights organizations to exert maximum pressure on the Islamic regime of Iran and demand the immediate revocation of the death sentences of Sharifeh Mohammadi, and all other execution rulings in Iran.
Your support for the campaign to stop Sharifeh’s execution and the execution sentences of other detainees will be reflected in the TV programs of the Free Them Now, putting significant pressure on the Islamic Republic. We hope that an increasing number of unions will respond positively to this campaign.
The Islamic regime must be globally boycotted and isolated for all its crimes against women, workers, children, and the people of Iran. As we approach the annual meeting of the International Labour Organization, we must intensify our efforts and demand the expulsion of this anti-worker, anti-human regime from the organization.
