Solidarity Fund to Support the wounded of the January Protests in Iran

by admin_shahla

It is now widely recognized that the Islamic regime in Iran has committed acts of genocide against Iranian protesters who took to the streets in response to poverty, lack of security, systemic corruption, widespread plunder, and the regime’s repressive policies. On January 8 and 9, the regime mercilessly opened fire on lines of demonstrators in numerous cities across the country, killing tens of thousands of people and arresting many more. The scale of the regime’s crimes over the past two days is unprecedented even in the history of this criminal government itself. Also 50,000 individuals were arrested in this atrocity.

Following these events, the regime continued its killings: it delivered summary executions to the wounded and directly fired upon prisoners inside detention facilities. Families were forced to pay large sums of money in order to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones. According to reports collected thus far, the list of those killed includes at least 176 children and adolescents. In any case, the scope and scale of these crimes are vast and far-reaching, and due to the widespread shutdown of the internet, the full extent and accurate statistics of these atrocities remain unknown.

Many families are still searching for their missing loved ones. At the same time, a number of wounded protesters—some in critical condition—are being hidden and cared for in private homes with the protection of the public. In these circumstances, medical personnel and doctors have stood courageously alongside the people, providing treatment to the wounded. In some cases, complex surgical procedures are even being carried out inside private homes.

In short, the situation is deeply tragic. Many workers, teachers, and ordinary people in Iran are in urgent need of assistance to cover the costs of treating the wounded. A significant number of them turn to Free Them Now (FTN) in search of support.

In light of these conditions, Free Them Now has decided to establish a Solidarity Fund with the People of Iran. We call upon everyone to support us in any way possible so that we can respond to this urgent humanitarian need. Naturally, while fully observing security considerations, we will regularly provide reports on the performance of this fund, including received donations and expenditures.
