According to the report of the Organizing Council of Unofficial Oil Workers Protests (Third pillars), today, November 12, workers of the oil third pillars gathered in several refineries including the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th refineries of South Pars Gas Complex to pursue their demands.
The most important urgent demands of third-pillars workers and the support of contracting companies in the South Pars gas complex are: the right to organize, assemble and protest, the complete removal of contracting companies, the immediate and unconditional return to work of all fired workers and an end to security measures against the protesting workers. and 14 days of work and 14 days of rest for administrative and support workers.
Considering the non-attendance of their elected representative in the meetings of the Supreme Labor Council, these workers have emphasized the invalidity of this institution and invalidity of wage determination meetings by the Supreme Labor Council and have declared that any resolution without the presence of the elected representative of the workers in the wage determination meetings is invalid and it is a violation of the basic rights of workers. In their rally, the workers chanted: “We don’t want a Supreme Labor Council, we don’t want it.” Supreme Council of Labor, a bunch of idle brats.
According to the same reports, on November 8, the workers of third pillars gathered in Aab ali. These workers are protesting the low level of wages and the encroachment of contractors on their rights and benefits, the uncertainty of the plan to remove contracting companies and change the status of contract workers. They are also protesting against repressions and not having the right to protest and assemble.
In addition, formal oil workers too are still pursuing their demands. According to reports, following the latest protest gathering of formal workers in the administrative headquarters of South Pars, the head of the National Oil Company announced that they will lift the salary cap of formal workers which is a demand of the workers. However, no action has been taken in this regard so far, and the formal workers in the Falat e Ghareh (continental plateau) have given a deadline until November 22 and announced that if their demands are not fulfilled, the consequences will be the responsibility of the managers and officials.
Retired oil workers have also called for a rally on November 17 in protest against the reneging of promises and unanswered demands. Tampering with the pension fund and embezzlement is a subject of their protest, and they have already held rallies in relation to this issue with the slogan of “Workers and retirees unite.”
