– The Islamic Republic of Iran has killed 176 people by firing rockets on a Ukrainian passenger plane apparently intentionally. We strongly condemn this killing and crime. Because of this heinous crime, we think that the international community should hold Iran accountable and responsible.
-We strongly support the struggles of the workers and Iranian people against poverty, discrimination, inequality, corruption and deprivation of their most basic social rights such as the right to organize, the right to assemble, the right to protest and the brutal suppression of these protests. We were informed that during the November mass protests in Iran, 1500 people were killed and about 10,000 were arrested by Islamic regime of Iran. We strongly condemn these crimes and these repression and demand the immediate and unconditional release of all recent detainees and all political prisoners.
– We condemn the heinous and barbaric sentences of whipping the labour activists, teachers and protesters by the Islamic regime of Iran. This brutal and anti humane Islamic punishment should be condemned by all workers organisations and all civilised people around the world. For example Mohammad Habibi a jailed teacher was sentenced to ten and half years in prison and 74 lashes. All these brutal sentences must be abolished. We strongly condemn the Islamic Republic of Iran for issuing such brutal sentences.
– We support the indictment and protest of Esmail Bakhshi the well known and popular leader of the Haft-Tapeh suagar cane workers in Shush city in Iran, against the tortures he was subjected to in the Islamic government;s prisons. Esmail Bakhsh, who was arrested for defending workers’ rights during the struggles of the Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers, Mohammad Khannifar, Sepideh Gholian, Amir Amirgholi, Amir Hossein Mohammadi Fard, Sanaz Elahiari and Asal Mohammadi the rest of And the rest of the detainees in this case were sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment each
– The Islamic Republic of Iran arrests and imprisons workers for their struggles and for defending their rights and their lives and livelihoods under charges such as “disturbing national security and national security”. We support the campaign against the securitising the struggles of the workers in Iran and demand the complete abolition of all security sentences issued for labour activists, teachers and social activists.
– We protest ILO because of its silence and appeasement with the Islamic regime about the ongoing violation of the very conventions declared by this organization, by the Iranian regime. This is shameful that this very regime is a ILO member!
The Islamic regime continues to deny people their basic rights. The right to organize, the right to strike, to freely assemble, to celebrate International Labour Day and the right to freedom of expression. Such a regime should not have a place in ILO.
– We join with other international labour and humanitarian oraganisations that have raised their voices to cal for the immediate and unconditional release of Jafar Azimzadeh, Parvin Mohammadi, Atena Daemi, Neda Naji, Mohammad Habibi, Esmail Abdi, Mahmoud Beheshti, Athena Daemi, and all political prisoners in Iran.
-We stand in support and partnership with “Free Them Now” campaign to free all jailed workers in Iran.
