Dear friends!
As you know a wave of workers’ strikes and protests is going on in Iran, most prominent of them are oil and gas and petrochemical workers’ and Haft Tappeh Sugarcane workers’ strikes. It feels that we are on a turning point and the government can’t do anything against the workers but tries to disperse the workers’ unity by carrot and sticks policy and had no success so far,
On the same time the regime has issued death sentences for 8 detained protesters who have been arrested during the last year and the previous year’s uprisings and tries to show its’ claws to the workers and the whole society.
You have always supported our struggles and campaigns and I appreciate very much your solidarity with the workers in Iran. I ask you to sign this petition and show once more your support for the striking workers. Your support and solidarity is very important and encouraging for the workers in Iran.
With Solidarity

Solidarity of World Trade Unions with the Workers and People of Iran
1- We demand the abolition of death sentences for the following eight protesters, named Saeed Tamjidi, Amir hossein Moradi, Moahmmad Rajabi, Mehdi Salehi, Hadi Kyani, Moahmmad Bastami, Majid Nazari, and Abbas MohamadiA, and we emphasize that these young people who have committed no crime, only a just struggle to defend their basic social rights; should be released as soon as possible. Capital punishment should be abolished completely.
2- Considering the reports of the widespread outbreak of Covid19 in Iran’s prisons and the infection of many political prisoners, including Ismail Abdi a member of the executive board of teachers’ association of Tehran, and Jafar Azimzadeh, secretary general of the Free Trade Union of Iran, and a number of other political prisoners, we call for immediate release of all the infected prisoners, and especially Jafar Azimzadeh and Ismail Abdi. All political prisoners should be released.
3- We, together with “Free Them Now” support the demands and struggles of the striking Oil workers, Haft Tappeh Sugarcane workers and other workers’ strikes in Iran, and call on the Iranian government to immediately and completely implement the demands of the workers and respect the workers’ international basic rights.
We condemn the use of threat and pressure against the striking workers.
