چهارمین کنگره اتحادیه های کارگری اروپا طی بیانیه ای ضمن محکوم کردن سرکوب تظاهرات روز جهانی کارگر در ایران و بازداشت دهها نفر از فعالین کارگری از اتحادیه اروپا و دولتهای عضو آن خواستار اقدامی اضطراری برای آزادی فعالین کارگری در بند و تضمین آزادیهای سیاسی در ایران مطابق کنوانسیون های بین المللی سازمان جهانی کار شد. این بیانیه بدنبال تماسهای طاهر جعفری زاده از همکاران کمپین برای آزادی کارگران زندانی در ایتالیا، مستقیما برای وی ارسال گردید. متن انگلیسی این بیانیه ضمیمه است.

Emergency Motion on Freedom and Protection for Iranian Trade Unionists

The 14th Congress of the European Trade Union Confederation strongly condemns the repression of demonstrations in Iran on 1 May, the violence against the population by the police, the arrest and detention of dozens and dozens of representatives of independent Iranian trade unions.
The European Trade Unions call on the EU and its Member States to take all political and diplomatic steps towards the Islamic Republic of Iran to ensure that the trade union leaders arrested are released and, more generally, that civil, political, social and trade union freedoms in Iran are guaranteed and effectively implemented, together with the simultaneous application of International Labour Organisation standards and conventions. In addition, the 14th Congress notes that the US administration’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed here in Vienna on 14 July 2015 threatens peace in the region and will only add to the pressures on workers’ and trade union rights in Iran.
