“ If our problem is not solved, the schools will be closed”
At ten o’clock in the morning today, the third of Mehr month (September 25), following a call by the Coordination Council of Educational Professions ’ Association, large groups of employed and retired teachers gathered in several cities and towns in front of education ministry in Tehran and its offices in other cities, and shouted their demands with great anger. Teachers called for and end to discriminations, Implementation of grading and increasing incomes, and free education for all children.
Some slogans of the teachers in this gathering were: “Until we get our rights, we will not give up”, “our phones and tablets are our private belongings”, “If ranking is not resolved, classes will be closed”, “imprisoned teachers must be released” ,“the teachers are awake, they hate discrimination “,” with one less embezzlement, our problem will be solved “,” Livelihood, dignity, our inalienable right “,” Teacher! Shout your right”, “the retiree is the mirror of the employed” , “educational people are awake, they hate lies”.
According to the reports, rallies and gatherings have been held in 35 cities including Tehran, Shiraz, Kermanshah, Yazd, Karaj, Tabriz, Ardabil,Marivan, Abadan, Bojnourd, Saqez, Mahshahr, Ashkanan, Sari, Isfahan, Khorramabad, Lamerd, Sanandaj, Izeh, Kuhdasht, Andimeshk, Yazd, Ahvaz, kazeron, and Behbahan.
The Coordination Council of Educational Professions ’ Association, in a congratulatory statement for the new academic year to teachers, students and their parents, emphasized its specific and immediate demands, the main points of which are: implementation of the ranking system based on 80% of university faculty salaries and, full and accurate matching of pensions according to the Civil Service Management Law and payment of government debts to them in the past years, paying the unpaid salaries of pensioners who retired last year, job security, stopping court cases against union activists, releasing imprisoned teachers and returning the fired teachers to work, and the right to organize, and free education for all the school children.
