On June 22, the workers of Karun Plantation and Industry (Kesht o Sanaat) started a strike demanding the change of their contract to direct contracts with the company instead of through intermediary companies.

On this day the workers of Shushtar Plantation and Industry Company too went on strike in protest of the way the contracting company treats the personnel and the failure to address their job and livelihood demands. They want the status of  their employment to be changed to a direct contract with the company.

On Wednesday, June 21public service retirees, including retired teachers, gathered and protested in front of the pension fund office in several cities, according to a pre-announced call. These gatherings took place in the cities of Kermanshah, Ardabil, Shiraz and Yazd in protest against poverty, high prices, insecurity, embezzlement and theft.

Protests are widespread among different sections of retirees. This week, social security retirees gathered in Ahvaz on June 19 and in four cities of Shush, Shushtar, Kermanshah and Ahvaz on June 18, as well as telecommunications retirees in ten cities on Monday. Increasing salaries above the poverty line, which has now exceeded 30 million Tomans (ca $1000/month), free health care, ending embezzlements and thefts, are among the common demands of all retirees
