On February 13, at the leadership committee meeting of the BCGEU (British Columbia General Employees’ Union) in Vancouver, Canada, Masoud Arzhang, Deputy General Secretary of the union, delivered a speech in support of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” revolution and the labor movement in Iran. He strongly condemned the repressive policies and executions carried out by the Islamic Republic and called on all union activists and workers to denounce the Iranian government’s actions against workers and the people in Iran.
This event was organized by the invitation of the Vancouver branch of the “Free Them Now” campaign for the freedom of imprisoned workers. BCGEU has consistently expressed its solidarity and support for the demands and protests of workers and the people of Iran. It is also one of the unions that has endorsed and signed the campaign to expel the Islamic Republic from the International Labour Organization (ILO), a campaign initiated by “Free Them Now.”
