Protests of different sectors of oil workers in Iran

Protests are widespread in the oil industry. These protests started months ago and are going on alternately in different oil sectors. Formal oil workers started their protests last year, contractual and project workers started protesting two months ago, and third-pillar workers have started protesting and gathering since weeks ago.

Today, August 21, formal oil workers gathered at Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company to pursue their demands. The formal workers in Naft Jam town have also called a rally in front of Farhangsara Tawheed for August 22.

The demands of the formal workers are nationwide, and the most important of them are: removal of incompetent and corrupt officials, removal of the salary cap, removal of the limitation of retirement pays, full implementation of Article 10 and payment of back pay of Article 1, non-separation of three operational jobs and revision of the pension fund statute.

On August 20, workers of the third pillars gathered and protested in the third, fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth refineries of the South Pars Gas Complex and pursued their demands. The main demands of these colleagues are: the complete removla of contracting companies, the right to organize and assemble and protest, the immediate and unconditional return to work of two fired colleagues, Hojat Rezaei from South Pars and Yaser Ahmadinejad from Milli Hafari and the fired project workers, implementation of previous agreements, especially paid leave, correct implementation of the job classification plan and fair and non-discriminatory payment system for formal and contract forces according the previous agreements with the Ministry of Oil, implementation of the job classification plan for drivers who do not own rental cars, organizing traffic and creating security job for them, non-discriminatory implementation of 14 days of work and 14 days of rest for administrative and support colleagues.

The organizing council of oil contract workers’ protests has announced its support for the protests of third-pillar colleagues, formal colleagues and protests of various sectors working in oil.

On August 19, formal oil workers at Pars Asalouye Oil and Gas Company (Site 1) and workers at Fajrjam Gas Refinery in Bushehr gathered and protested for non-answered demands.

On Sunday, August 18, formal oil workers gathered and protested at Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company and on Friday, August 16 at Continental Plateau Company (Falat–e-Ghareh) in Siri and Lawan to pursue their declared demands.
