Trump’s attack on the nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan has escalated the war to a new stage. This strike has dealt a severe blow to the Islamic regime of Iran. Now, on the verge of collapse and surrounded by the people, the Islamic regime—driven to madness and desperation—is intensifying its repression. Among these repressive acts is a new wave of arrests under various pretexts. A recent example is the arrest of Hossein Mirbahari, a long-time child rights activist and one of the founders of the “Society for the Defence of Working and Street Children”, on June 21.
We are also hearing reports that the regime has deployed morality patrols and is conducting inspections in public spaces, ostensibly in search of spies. Meanwhile, according to admissions by some regime insiders, Israeli spies have been operating for years at the highest levels of the regime.
We, the people, can and must actively and broadly resist this repression. Forming mutual aid groups, resisting arrests, and organizing gatherings of families of detainees are crucial steps in preparing social mass forces to rise up in a broad, mass movement that will shake the regime’s already crumbling foundations and ultimately bring it down. A vital step in this direction is to put pressure on the regime to end its warmongering and to prepare society for its overthrow. We must take this step with all our strength.
Hossein Mirbahari and all recent detainees and political prisoners must be released immediately and unconditionally. Let us intensify our struggle and open the prison gates with the power of our resistance.
