November 25: A Day Against Violence Toward Women, A Day to  Unite to End the Iran’s Anti-Woman Regime

by admin_shahla

November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, is a global day of protest. Marking this day in Iran—under the rule of the Islamic Republic’s gender-apartheid system, where the oppression of women is embedded in law and claims victims every single day—carries a distinct and urgent meaning. In Iran, November 25 stands as a day of public justice-seeking for 47 years of crimes committed by this regime against women.

In Iran, the struggle is against child marriage and the exploitation of young girls.
In Iran, the struggle is against honor killings committed under the protection of the government and its reactionary Islamic laws.
In Iran, the struggle is against the state’s systematic efforts to humiliate women and push them out of social life.

After the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini, a revolution erupted from decades of pent-up anger—Woman, Life, Freedom—recognized as the first women-led revolution of this century. The Islamic Republic crushed the uprising with brutality, yet a deep and far-reaching movement took root: the Woman, Life, Freedom movement has now become the groundwork for a broader social revolution against this entire system of violence and barbarism.

In recent years, the Islamic Republic has escalated executions in an attempt to intimidate society, issuing more death sentences than ever. Executions of women have also increased as the regime seeks revenge. Today, several women live under the immediate threat of execution. Iran’s prisons are filled with women who are victims of gender apartheid. Courageous activists such as Pakhshan Azizi, Werishe Moradi are kept under death sentence only because standing firmly against the criminal gender apartheid rules. The death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi was reduced to thirty years in prison following widespread protests. However, the threat of execution still hangs over her.

FTN the Campaign to Free Jailed Workers in Iran amplifies the voices of Iran’s workers and people on the occasion of November 25.

Violence against women must be ended entirely.
We—the people, and especially the women who lead this struggle—have the strength and the power to dismantle this violence in all its forms and to build a society that is safe for every woman, girl, and child.

On this day, FTN raises its voice more forcefully than ever to demand:

  • A complete ban on the death penalty
  • The annulment of all existing death sentences
  • The immediate release of Sharifeh Mohammadi, Pakhshan Azizi, Werishe Moradi, and all political prisoners
  • Gender apartheid must be completely dismantled.

FTN reiterates the call for the global isolation of the Islamic Republic, a gender-apartheid regime responsible for countless crimes, and for its leaders to be prosecuted in international courts.

FTN urges all labor unions and humanitarian organizations worldwide to stand with the people of Iran in their struggle to end gender apartheid and to help bring about the international isolation of this regime.
