Long live May 1st, International Workers’ Day!

by admin_shahla

May Day is the International Workers’ Day — a day against oppression, exploitation, and the dictatorships of capital. In Iran, this year we commemorate May 1st under very special circumstances. Today, 90 million people in Iran are seeking justice for the massacre carried out by the government during the bloody events of January 2026. These are the same people who, continuing the Woman, Life, Freedom revolution, rose up in 200 cities chanting: “Poverty, corruption, high prices — we will continue until regime overthrow,” and “Freedom, freedom, freedom.”
This year’s May Day is a symbol of the people’s demand for justice for that massacre, voiced through the Woman, Life, Freedom, slogan.

Free Them Now emphasizes a global boycott of the Islamic regime for this genocide and for 47 years of crimes, plunder, and destruction of people’s lives and livelihoods. We call for broad international solidarity with Iranian workers and people, for an international boycott of the Islamic regime, and for support of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement and the demands and struggles of the people of Iran.

The regime’s warmongering policies have dragged society into war and insecurity — a 39-day war with Israel and the United States that ended in a fragile ceasefire. But the war of the people against this regime has no ceasefire.

Today, Iranian society is far from normal. As a result of the war, people’s living conditions have worsened even further, and mass hunger is now a reality. Layoffs are rampant. This situation, along with the regime’s killings and crimes, has pushed society to an explosive state.

The government stands against 90 million people. It is so isolated that, to preserve its power, it has brought in mercenaries such as Hashd al-Shaabi and Fatemiyoun forces from other countries. These forces roam the streets daily, shouting and attempting to intimidate the people.

Out of fear of another uprising, the regime has effectively imposed a form of martial law and intensified its repression and violence. The lives of prisoners are in danger, and urgent action is needed to save them. Free Them Now calls for global support for imprisoned workers, political prisoners, and detained protesters. Pressure must be applied until every single one of them is freed. The machinery of execution and state violence must be brought to an end.

The people of Iran do not want nuclear enrichment. They do not want ballistic missiles. They do not want proxy militant forces. As long as the Islamic Republic exists, there will be war, insecurity, poverty, inequality, repression, and executions. May 1st is the day to declare the overthrow of this brutal and criminal regime.
