The strike of the formal oil workers in Aghajari

According to the report published on the Telegram channel of the Council for Organizing Protests of Oil Contract Workers, today, July 17, the nationwide strike of about 24 thousand oil project workers entered its 28th day, and these workers in 123 oil and gas companies are still on strike to pursue their demands. Due to the pressure of the workers, some contractors have made withdrawals. However, the workers say that the strike and their demands are nationwide and united and they follow their demands nationwide. The three main demands of the workers are salary increase, 14 working days and 14 days off, and removal of contractors. In addition, the oil project workers have unanswered demands regarding the miserable working conditions and the unbearable conditions of the dormitories, the poor quality of food and the insecurity of the work environment, and they are seriously pursuing all their demands.

The demand to remove contractors is a national demand of oil workers. Third pillars workers have also held many rallies on this demand, and they are united with the project workers in this struggle.

On the other hand, protests by formal oil workers in various centers of the oil industry continue against the government’s livelihood attacks and to pursue their demands. Today, the 17th of July, official oil workers in Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company gathered in front of the company’s management building to protest the unanswered demands of their demands. The previous gathering of these workers held on July 14. The formal workers’ protests are nationwide. In connection with this issue, on July 12, these workers had a rally at the Falat Gharreh Company in Lawan. The main demands of the formal oil workers are: removal of corrupt managers, removal of salary caps, removal of restrictions on retirement pays, full implementation of Article 10 and payment of its arrears, non-separation of jobs in operational areas and refund of excess tax deducted.

Protests in oil are widespread, have directly affected the atmosphere of the labor movement in Iran, and are of interest to the entire society. For example, on July 14, social security retirees in Shush announced their support for the nationwide strike of oil project workers in their protest rally to pursue their demands. Public and official support for oil workers is very important and should be expanded
