August 7 :Social Security retirees in various cities called for nationwide protests on Sunday, August9. The demonstrations are against poverty, economic insecurity, the government’s continued warmongering, the worsening cost of living, systemic corruption and looting, and ongoing state repression.
- August 7: Workers dismissed from the maintenance unit of the Salman Farsi Petrochemical Complex in Mahshahr, following up on their August 3 protest in front of the governor’s office, sent a letter to the Governor of Khuzestan demanding reinstatement. They protested their sudden dismissal, job insecurity, and worsening living conditions. Following the war with the United States and Israel, these workers—like many others employed in Mahshahr’s industrial and production facilities—lost their jobs. After about a month and the Nowruz holidays, they briefly returned to work. However, after a new wave of missile attacks on neighboring petrochemical complexes, all 52 Salman Farsi workers were dismissed once again. Their situation reflects that of many workers in the region, and these mass layoffs have intensified the atmosphere of protest.
- August 6: A group of residents in Shiraz joined six justice-seeking families of those killed during the nationwide protests of January 2026 (Dey 1404). They gathered in Meyanroud Square and laid flowers at the site where the protesters were killed by the Islamic Republic. Ehsan Abolhassan-Beigi, Shemshad Ekhlasi, Mohammad Mehdi Rousta, Saeed Dehghani, Hojat Moradi, and Ebrahim Ghasemkhani were among those killed simultaneously at this location on the evening of January 8, 2027 (18 Dey 1405).
- August 6 : The Iranian Teachers’ Trade Association reaffirmed its opposition to the death penalty, emphasizing that the right to life is the most fundamental human right and the foundation of all other rights and freedoms, and condemned the continued use of executions.
- August 4: Permanent employees in the Pars I operational zone (Asaluyeh) and offshore South Pars oil and gas platforms held another protest against salary caps, deteriorating living conditions, and the authorities’ failure to address their demands. Carrying banners, they staged a rally as part of their ongoing weekly protests, following a previous demonstration on July 28 (6 Mordad).
- August 4: The “Tuesdays Against Executions” campaign continued for its 132nd consecutive week, with activities taking place in 59 prisons across Iran.
- August 3: Nurses and staff at Razi and Khomeini Hospitals in Ilam staged protests over delayed payment of wages and benefits, worsening living conditions, and the performance of university administrators.
- August3: Workers at Kish Choob Company publicly protested delayed wage payments and unpaid insurance contributions.
- August 2: Social Security retirees and retired telecommunications workers held protests against delayed pension payments, broken government promises, and the continued deterioration of their living conditions. Social Security retirees demonstrated in Shush, Kermanshah, Tehran, and Rasht, while retired telecommunications workers protested in Mashhad, Ardabil, Kermanshah, Tehran, Yasuj, Tabriz, and Ahvaz.
- August 2: Poultry farmers in Fars Province gathered outside the provincial Agricultural Jihad Organization to protest the poultry industry’s crisis and their worsening economic conditions.
- August 1: Prison guards raided the ward housing political prisoners in Ward 7 of Evin Prison. During the assault, six political prisoners—Amirhossein Moradi, Ehsan Rostami, Ramin Rostami, Pejman Toubereh-Rizi, Mojtaba Taghavi, and Afshin Heyratian—were beaten and then transferred to another location. Following their transfer, the remaining prisoners in Ward 7 gathered in protest and raised slogans condemning the violent attack.
- August 1: Around 800 to 900 retirees of Pars Khodro Company gathered outside the main gate of SAIPA to protest delayed payments, including unpaid end-of-service benefits.
- August 1: A group of unemployed young people from the Warm Region of Boyer-Ahmad protested discriminatory hiring practices. They first demonstrated outside the Lishter Refinery and later in front of the Gachsaran Governor’s Office, demanding fair recruitment procedures, transparency in hiring, an end to discrimination, and the right to employment for local youth.
- July 31: Contract workers employed by the Gorgan Municipality in Golestan Province publicly protested delays in the payment of their wages and seniority benefits.
- July 31: Sanitation workers employed by the Babol Municipality in Mazandaran Province held a protest demanding payment of overdue wages, the elimination of subcontracting companies, and direct payment of their salaries and benefits by the municipality.
