Formal oil workers’ protests taking the form of marches and gatherings

The protests of formal oil workers, which started in October last year, have become more widespread and have taken more aggressive forms. Today, the 26th August, the workers of Pars Asalouye Oil and Gas Company (Site 1) gathered and marched, and with the slogans, “Fair pays are our inalienable rights” and emphasized on their unanswered demands. 

On this day, in Bushehr, formal workers working in Fajr Refinery gathered and protested. On this day, another protest rally held by oil formal workers at the Parsian Gas Refinery. Last day, the supervisors of drilling operations in the oil-rich areas of the south gathered in protest against the removal of some items from their salary ceiling. Also, on the 23th August, a group of formal workers living in the residential settlements of Jam, in an unprecedented action, marched with their families, shouting “fair salaries are our absolute right”.

The main demands of the formal oil workers are: dismissal of incompetent and corrupt officials, removal of salary cap, removal of the limitation of retirement pays, full implementation of Article 10 and payment of back pay of Article 1, and reinstatement of the pension fund statute.

Different sections of oil workers have been protesting for a long time now. Third pillars workers have decided to protest every Tuesday and strikes and protests by contractual workers are also ongoing.
