The Gathering and March of Third-pillar Workers at Fajr Jam Gas Refinery and Lavan Formal oil workers

by admin_shahla

As part of the ongoing protests by third-pillar oil workers, today, 27 January, third-pillar workers of the Fajr Jam Gas Refinery Company held a gathering and march, carrying banners of protest. The workers’ grievances centre on low wages, skyrocketing living costs, and corrupt managers and exploitative contractors in the oil sector, which were reflected in their chants.

These workers are demanding wage increases, improved wage-related benefits, and the abolition of contractor companies as their immediate priorities. During their protest, workers chanted slogans such as:

“The Supreme Labour Council, a bunch of idlers!”

“Empty promises aren’t enough; our tables are bare!”

“Fair wages are our inalienable right!”

As previously reported, on 26 January, 2000 third-pillar workers from oil, gas, and petrochemical centres across the country gathered in Tehran outside the presidential office and protested.

Also today, 27 January, formal operational workers from the southern region employed by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company in the Lavan area once again held a protest as part of their ongoing protests. Their immediate demands include salary increases, the elimination of job segregation in operational areas, and the exclusion of operational area allowances from the salary cap.

The scope of these protests by the oil workers has expanded, intensifying the atmosphere of unrest in the oil sector. The demands and slogans of these workers resonate as the voice of protest for all workers and citizens. Let us widely support the struggles of oil workers!
