September 15 — Formal oil workers in southern Iran held coordinated protests on Monday as part of their ongoing “Protest Mondays,” pressing demands for higher wages, removal of salary caps, an end to limits on retirement benefits, reimbursement of excess taxes, and protection of their pension fund.
Gatherings were reported at facilities including Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) platforms, South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC), Fajr Jam Gas Refinery, sites in Kangan and Assaluyeh, the Assaluyeh Special Zone, and Lavan Offshore Oil Company. Workers also rallied over the weekend in Kharg, the Forouzan platform, and Aghajari Oil and Gas Company. In Lavan, protesters warned of strike action, chanting: “If you want sustainable production, remove the salary cap.”
Contract workers at Pars Oil and Gas Company in Assaluyeh also staged protests, citing workplace discrimination, poor conditions, and the failure to implement a court ruling that would grant them benefits.
Separately, more than 1,500 production line workers at Zamyad Automobile Manufacturing Company, a subsidiary of SAIPA, stopped work over unpaid wages, low salaries, and suspension of allowances and overtime. Zamyad has been a focal point of labor unrest in recent years.
