At 10 a.m. on January 24, retirees of education ministry gathered in front of the Pension Fund in several cities to protest their poor living conditions, following an earlier call. In Hamedan city, retired teachers, holding a banner that read: Prison is not a place for a teacher, free the imprisoned teachers! insisted on the release of the imprisoned teachers. The demonstrators also protested against living below the poverty line, by holding up a banner that read, “Living above the poverty line is the right of employed and retired teachers.”

In Rasht, the presence of women was significant, and retired teachers pursued their demands with handwritten placards on which they wrote their demands.

A common demand of all retirees is the implementation of the law on equalization of salaries and raising its level above the declared poverty line, and free health care.

On this day, a large number of Iranian telecom retirees from different provinces also gathered in front of the executive headquarters in Tehran to protest against the unfulfilled promises and to pursue their demands and protest their poor living conditions. On the same day, a group of employees of the Iran Telecommunication also gathered in front of the building of the Commercial Deputy to protest the postponement of their payments.
