Bayan Azimi’s letter:

To the people of Kurdistan and human rights organisations around the world!

I am Bayan Azimi, the wife of Pejman Fatehi, one of the detained Peshmerga in Somabradost region of West Azarbaijan province. My husband
Pejman together with three other peshmerga named Wafa Azarbar, Mohsen Mazloum and Mohammad (Hejir) Faramarzi were arrested on July 29. We have not heard from them during this time and we are very worried. Our contact with them is cut off and when the families turn to responsible authorities, they don’t answer and sometimes even insult the families. I am deeply worried about the safety and physical and mental state of my husband and other detained loved ones. As long as our families do not meet them directly, we have this concern, and I will continue to seek the support of the world and human rights defenders to get the opportunity to visit and meet my husband and other arrested loved ones and make sure of their physical health and security.

The fact that we were informed of the arrest of our loved ones through public reports and not been contacted and informed by the authorities, and been denied visiting our loved ones, is against the rights of every prisoner and arrestee. I desperately ask the people of Iran and Kurdistan to help us to be able to meet our loved ones. They have not committed any crime and should be released immediately. We need your support and solidarity.

A security case has been filed for my husband and three other detainees, under the title of “collaboration with the intelligence agencies and organizations of foreign countries”. We have no news from them and they do not allow us to visit  them. We have the experience of such cases where they make a case and then force the prisoner to confess against themselves under intense interrogation and torture. I ask you people and all human rights institutions in the world not to let these four dear young men become victims of baseless cases.

 People!

We all know the meaning of such scenarios. This means that they are preparing the ground to issue heavy sentences, even execution sentences for my husband and other three young Peshmerga who have been arrested.

I defend my husband and other three detained young Peshmerga, with all my strength. I ask all of you the people and all human rights defenders in the world to support me. My husband Pejman Fatehi and these detained loved ones have not committed any crime. Their opposition is to poverty and hunger and oppression in the society, and my demand is their immediate and unconditional release. I will be stronger and more encouraged by support of you, the people, and the organizations that defend human rights and all freedom-loving people. join me.
