The atmosphere among the official oil employees is very turbulent and protesting and the issue of a strike among them is widely discussed. These workers have announced that they will respond to attacks to their picket, in their announced rally on September 19. According to the survey of the Coordination and Solidarity Council of Oil Workers, tens of thousands of official oil employees along with their families will hold a protest rally on September 19 across the country.

The gathering of these employees on September 3 in Tehran was attacked by military forces and around 70 protesting oil employees were arrested. This arrests has angered all the oil workers. Although the arrested employees were released that night, the oil employees have announced that the cases filed against these employees should be cancelled and their names should not be given to the oil security.

In addition, these workers have other demands, which include: increasing the wages and incomes and ending discrimination in payments, ending the recruitments according to family contacts and referrals instead of qualifications, returning the heavy taxes deducted from salaries over the years, ending embezzlement and providing transparency in the operation of the pension fund, improving the status of health and medical services in oil industry and ensuring that all workers have free and quality health care, improving welfare services for oil workers, including improving the status of food and canteens. Improving dormitories and living facilities based on an acceptable standard for all oil workers, raising the safety standard of the work environment, recognizing the right to organize and ending the securitising of oil work centres

Free Them Now supports the demands of the oil employees and calls on all workers and people to support oil employees and their protests. The demands of the oil employees are just and must be fullfilled.
