The fifth day of the nationwide strike of oil project workers
Today, April 25, the powerful strike of oil project workers entered its fifth day with two urgent demands for a 79% wage increase and twenty days of work and ten days off. These strikes have gone beyond the oil industry, and project workers in steel, mines and power plants have also joined it. According to estimates, more than 100,000 workers are participating in these strikes, and its scope has been extended to about 100 centers of oil and steel and other industries.
It should be mentioned that a large number of project workers are working in Iraq’s oil and gas projects through contracting companies, and these workers have already announced that they would go on strike along with other project colleagues.
Widespread Strikes in oil industry, together with the daily protests of pensioners, nurses, and the call of the Coordinating Council of Teachers’ Trade Unions to create popular committees to defend the lives of students against the government’s chemical attacks on girls’ schools, and also The nationwide women’s movement against hijab, reflects the turbulent atmosphere of the society against the Islamic regime and the continuation of the woman, life freedom revolution.
In the context of such conditions, we welcome International Workers’ Day.
