Gatherings and protests of Haft Tappeh sugar cane workers, retirees and some other protests

On July 3, the official workers of Haft Tappeh sugarcane company together with a number of contract workers of this company for the umpteenth time protested the non-implementation of the job classification plan that could add a little to their wages and other unanswered demands, in front of the company’s management office. The workers have announced that they will continue their protest rally until the results are obtained.

On this day, the conductors of Tehran metro line 5 went on strike in protest against the government’s so called “seventh development plan”, in protest against the removal of their work from the list of hard and harmful jobs. According the opinion of HSE experts and the provincial committee, the job of driving subway trains is considered one of the most difficult and harmful jobs. In this work, due to working with high voltage electricity and working in the tunnel and the presence of environmental pollutants, noise pollution, and vibrations, etc., the workers are exposed to physical injuries, including damage to vision, hearing, lungs, skin, and spine.

On July 3rd, telecommunications retirees gathered in front of telecommunications offices in several cities, including Mashhad, Ahvaz, and Bandar Abbas, as in previous Mondays, and raised their voice of protest against poverty, high prices, and insecurity and pursued their demands.

On July 2, nurses with an 89-day contract in the cities of Iranshahr, Rask, Fanuj, Chah Bahar and Nikshahr in Sistan and Baluchistan province went on strike to protest their collective dismissal and demanded to determine their employment status. These protests continue. These protests were formed after the disclosure of a letter attributed to the deputy head of development of management and resources of Iranshahr University of Medical Sciences. In this letter, all hospitals and medical centers were ordered to end the contaract with “89-day forces”. This issue has intensified the protests of nurses in this city who are facing with a heavy work pressure and low wages.

Also, on July 2, some tractor owners of Kalaganj closed the road between Kalaganj and Kohnuj near Dolab in Sistan and Baluchistan, Nahdat Abar Rudsar road, in protest against the reduction of fuel quota for farmers and tractor owners. In this regard, the transportation axis of Rudbar to Iranshahr was blocked by Rudbari tractor owners the previous day.
